Building My Professional Learning Network (PLN)
Learning is a lifelong process. My commitment to professional learning is critical to my ability to implement effective teaching practices and positively influence student learning and achievement. As educational theory and practice are continually changing, I like to stay informed and have consequently established a PLN through a variety of pathways, including:
- subscribing to e-newsletters such as Edutopia, Powerful Learning Practice, Canadian Education Association, Buck Institute for Education, etc.
- collecting, sharing, collaborating, and communicating with education professionals on Twitter
- collecting and sharing teaching ideas on Pinterest
- connecting with education professionals on Google+
- staying informed about relevant and noteworthy Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) by Coursera and EdX
- participating in online PD webinars (provided by OTF Connects, ETFO Connected Communities, TeachOntario, etc.)
- supporting fellow teaching professionals by purchasing teaching/learning materials on TeachersPayTeachers
- subscribing to education-related YouTube channels such as MonkeySee, STEMbite, Canadian Space Agency, Discovery Education, The Critical Thinking Consortium, etc.
